Facebook discovery

I have recently discovered that on Face book there is a total of 495 people who are named Noden and have Face book pages. They are scattered all over the world, but predominantly in the US and the UK.

Assuming that each of them has at least 4 living family members, this means the represented population is approximately 2000, Assuming that the percentage of the overall population that has a Face book page is similar in both the US and the UK, which is given as 10% of the overall population, there may be as many as 20,000 Noden's out there. This is a staggering number and makes the whole character of my genealogical inquiries very different than expected.

Alxe & Martin's Trip to the UK

Alxe and Martin had dinner with Lyndsay Noden in her home in Chinley, in Cheshire, this past Monday evening. Family stories and pictures to come later

Just in from Cousin Lyndsay in the UK-the following poem she recently authored.

"And I slept

The noise inescapable;
It lay in my head.
A symphony of sound.

I moved to a small
unoccupied part
of my mind

The noise gone.
Symphony silenced.
And I slept

Family update

Mid July and Barbara continues to recover from her health travails, improve her stamina and regain her usual equilibrium.

This week we had a lady who thought that she wanted to buy the Mercedes, but after lots of thinking decided that she ought to be somewhat more cautious and decided against the purchase. This was after a great report by the local MB mechanic, Jim Corbin, and after we produced a sheaf of bills showing what we had done to the car over the past 5 years. Consequently, we will put it on e-Bay and see if we get any takers. If not, it will be off to Proline Motors here on the island for consignment sale.

Lots of good pictures from the visit to Alxe.

It seems an age since our last post. In fact barely a month has gone by, but much has transpired in that short moon phase. The BIG trip has come, been aborted, and gone. Barbara has been in hospitals three times, and indeed today will be released from our local one after a short bout with atrial fibrillation and other associated ills.

Basho & Amanda got married, (we left beforehand because B. was not doing well); SophieJoye gave birth to their new baby, and the world goes on spinning.

Happy Birthday

Monday, May 25 is Barbara's birthday and this afternoon the door bell rang and the lady from the Island florist was standing outside with a giant bouquet of roses and other goodies. After lots of oohing and ahing the delivery lady and I sang Happy Birthday, and Barbara read the attached card from Martin and Alxe. It was a wonderful moment, and so very thoughtful of Martin and Alxe to remember the anniversary.

Kitty in a basket

In the middle of all the hustle and bustle of our preparations for the road trip starting next week, we paused for a moment and watched Max sleeping in his basket and in his perennial state of serene calm. Oh for the bliss of no concerns but sleep food and chasing an occasional gecko.
